The X Senior Asian Kurash Championship was held in Pune, Maharashtra, India.
Within the framework of the Championship, the II Ordinary Congress and I Direnting Committee Meeting of of Kurash Confederation of Asia-Oceania were also held.
The Congress was attended by the heads and representatives of the Kurash Federation from 24 countries of the continent.
President of the Confederation, Komil Ruziev, chaired the Congress, specifying the current development of the Kurash in two continents.
One of the major issues raised in the Congress is to make amendments and additions to the Statute of Confederation.
The Confederation operates on the basis of regional federations, based on the experience from world sports, for the common development and promotion of Kurash in all territories of both continents.
In 2018, five regional federations such as South Asia, West Asia, East Asia, Central Asia and South East Asian federations will be established in the Asian continent. The Presidents of mentioned regional federations will be considered as Vice-Presidents of Kurash Confederation of Asia-Oceania on their respective territories.
One more important point on the agenda of the Congress was the report of preparation by Organizing Committee for the Summer Asian Games in Indonesia.
According to him, during the second prestigious tournament following Olympic Games, the Kurash competitions will take place from 28th to 30th August.
The participants of the Summer Asian Games were announced to participate in 7 weight categories: 66KG, 81KG, 90KG, +90KG for Men; 52KG, 63KG, 78KG for Women participants. Additionally, 2 participants in each weight category are allowed to compete for the prize during the tournament.
An organizational issue was also discussed during the congress, according to which Vice President of Sports Affairs position was established and Kim Eur Jung, President of the Korean Kurash Association and KCAO Directing Committee member, was elected by participants.
In addition, the awarding ceremony for “The Best of 2017” was held, and winners in several nominations were awarded.
