Today, on July 24, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Honorary President of the International Kurash Association Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev is celebrating his 66th birthday.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev was born on July 24, 1957, in the Zomin district of Jizzakh region, in the family of a doctor. In 1981, he graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers. He has the specialty of engineer-mechanic, and academic degrees of  Candidate of technical sciences, docent.
He started his career in 1981 at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, working as a junior researcher, senior teacher, associate professor, and vice-rector for academic affairs. In 1992, he was appointed as the governor of Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent city, in 1996-2001 as the governor of Jizzakh region, and in 2001-2003 as the governor of Samarkand region.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev was assigned as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2003 and was re-assigned for this position three more times in 2005, 2010, and 2015.
He was elected as the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the presidential elections held in 2016-2021 and 2023.
Shavkat Mirziyoev has been demonstrating his high potential and skillful organizational ability in implementing large-scale socio-economic reforms, modernizing and developing the country, implementing large projects, developing private property at a priority level, sharply increasing the share of small business and private entrepreneurship in the economy, and further strengthening their legal protection.
On May 27, 2017, Shavkat Mirziyoev was elected Honorary President of the International Kurash Association at the Extraordinary Congress of IKA.
With the direct support of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, two presidential decisions were made regarding the further development of Kurash in the world and its financial support.
As a result of these decisions, the number and quality of Kurash competitions are increasing.
