IKA delegation attends Peace and Sport Forum 2013

The delegation of the International Kurash Association took part at the opening ceremony of the 7th edition of the Peace and Sport International Forum held in Monaco today.

The Forum is organized by the “Peace and Sport Organization”(«L’Organisation pour la Paix par le Sport”) an international organization based in the Principality of Monaco and placed under the High Patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Peace and Sport is an initiative with the goal of making sport a vehicle for tolerance, respect, sharing and citizenship at the service of sustainable peace.

Supported by governments, world sport governing bodies, international organizations, major international private companies and international sports champions, Peace and Sport creates synergies between different stakeholders to carry out its objectives.

The flagship event of the organization is the Peace and Sport International Forum held annually in Monaco. This year this event gathered together more than 700 influential decision-makers and high-profile leaders from world sport governance, politics, International Organizations, NGOs and the private sector, plus academics and top-level athletes from over 100 countries.

The opening ceremony of the Forum took place at the famous Opera Garnier and was participated by the several leaders of states, IOC members, ministers of foreign affairs and sport ministers from around the world, NOC presidents and presidents of international sport federations and associations, like IOC member Prince Albert II of Monaco, ANOC and OCA President, KCA Honorary President Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, EOC President and EKC Honorary President Patrick Hickey, IOC Executive board member Willi Kaltschmitt, IOC member and Adviser to the IKA President Irena Szewinska and many other dignitaries.

The IKA delegation members have a number of meetings with high profile participants of the Forum, including HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.

The three day Forum will continue with plenary sessions, workshops and networking sessions aimed at sharing ideas on how sport can bring a tangible contribution to peace processes and peace-building projects around the globe. The Forum will be concluded with the ceremony to award the winners of this year’s prestigious Peace and Sport Award.
